Ernst Mayer - KRZN
Ernst Mayer ist seit über 40 Jahren beim Kommunalen Rechenzentrum Niederrhein, einem IT-Dienstleister für Stadt-, Gemeinde- und Kreisverwaltungen in den Bereichen Anwendungsentwicklung und -beratung; Systemtechnik, Projektleitung und Abteilungsleitung tätig gewesen. Aktuell koordiniert er das KRZN InnoLab, in dem insb. neue Techniken und Arbeitsweisen auf möglichen Einsatz in den Kommunalverwaltungen evaluiert werden.
Ernst Mayer has been with the Kommunales Rechenzentrum Niederrhein (KRZN) for over 40 years, where he has worked as an IT service provider for city, municipal and district administrations in the areas of application development and consulting, system engineering, project management and department management. He currently coordinates the KRZN InnoLab, where in particular new technologies and ways of working are evaluated for their potential use in municipal administrations.

Reclaiming Digital Sovereignty: Through its InnoLab project, KRZN is testing open-source office alternatives to empower administrative staff. Key focus areas include evaluating operating models and ensuring seamless integration with DMS and local government applications. Supported by univention, the project aims to prove daily practical viability. A successful pilot will pave the way for full-scale production – ensuring an independent and future-proof IT infrastructure.
